Rabbis in the Bay Area and across the country focused their Sabbath sermons this past weekend on one topic: voting rights.

The collaboration was organized by the national Jewish social justice group Bend the Arc, and came as thousands are expected to march in North Carolina against that state's new voting restrictions.

Last summer, the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated a Voting Rights Act provision that required some states with histories of discrimination to get federal approval before changing their election laws.
